Standby Power System Flashcards
1
Q
Standby Power System explained
A
- Supplies AC and D.C. power to important electrical components when normal AC power is not available from engine or AP generators
- The standby Power system uses the batteries (aux bat and bat)
- Uses a static inverter to supply power to these sources
2
Q
Batteries limitations
A
- With no other power sources available
- The batteries can supply power for a minimum of 60 minutes
3
Q
Battery power in emergency
A
- Supplies of power:
- DC standby bus
- The battery bus
- Static inverter
4
Q
The static inverter
A
-The static inverter changes 24 volt DC battery power to 115 bolt AC power to the AC standby bus
5
Q
Standby Power Switch
A
- In Auto, the standby busses and the battery bus are supplied power from their normal power sources
- If all sources of AC power removed, the standby power control unit automatically changes the standby system to battery power
- If position is off, AC and DC standby busses and battery bus are disconnected from all power sources, normal or battery
6
Q
Battery switch
A
- The battery switch is the other standby power control
- The on position always energises the switched hot battery bus
7
Q
Battery ON position
A
-The on position always energises the hit battery bus and the other circuits to automatically change to battery power if normal power is not available
