What is Door Ownership?
The Cabin Crew assigned the door is responsible for:
- The pre-flight check
- The arming and disarming
No Cabin Crew will perform these duties on behalf of another.
What are Cabin Crew duties regarding passengers sleeping on the floor?
Passengers are not permitted to sleep on the cabin floor at any phase of the flight.
Sometimes an engine may exhaust fire and smoke upon
starting. This situation is controlled by the flight crew.
What must the Cabin Crew do if this is observed by
passengers?
- Reassure passengers.

Crew at least every 15 mins during the cruise stage of the
flight?
- Lavatories
- Galleys
- Cabin, including stairs / lifts / social areas.
In case there is an incident caused by a Dangerous Good
that is in a passenger’s possession what will you do?
- Notify the Captain immediately.
- When possible, ask passenger involved to identify the item and explain
the matter of the hazard.
Who is responsible for Unaccompanied Minors on
flights?
The Purser.
Unaccompanied Minors are handed over to Pursers at boarding and remain the Pursers responsible until final destination
What is the risk of using water when fighting a fire
where Dangerous Goods are involved?
Using water may spread spillage or increase the rate of fuming.
When are Flight Crew allowed to operate aircraft cabin
doors?
In an emergency or in the absence of Cabin Crew onboard the aircraft.
Are Flight Crew allowed to perform the role of Door
Checker?
No.
In the even of Flight Crew Incapacitation, what are the
Cabin Crew required to do? (in co-ordination with the
Purser)
- Request assistance from any medically qualified passenger.
- Check if a type qualified company pilot is on board to replace the
incapacitated Flight Crew Member.
How will the Door checker block access to the mode select
lever prior to door opening?
The checker shall block access to the mode select lever by placing one
hand (Palm facing the Crew Member) on the plastic guard/cover covering
the arming lever.
