What are the Responsibilities of the Crew not directly
involved in fighting a fire?
- Crowd control.
- Remove portable oxygen bottles from the area.
- Bring additional equipment for the fire fighters.
List 2 actions in case of smoke or fumes in the cabin?
- Move passengers away from affected area if possible.
- Distribute wet towels to passengers and instruct them to cover their
mouth and nose, bend down to armrest level and breathe normally. - If a passenger requires therapeutic oxygen, it should be administered
away from the contaminated/smoke area. - Avoid opening the Flight Deck door unless absolutely necessary
How can we prevent lavatory fires?
- Pre-flight check the lavatory smoke detector and fire extinguisher.
- Check the smoke sensor (detector) for obstructions.
- Ensure waste bin flaps and door are closed.
- Check lavatories every 15 minutes.
How do you assess the severity of a lavatory fire?
Use the back of the hand on the lavatory door.
What can happen when a lithium battery pack over heats?
It can explode and start burning with a knock on effect when heat is
transferred from one cell to the other.
What is your immediate action in case of lithium battery
fire?
Carry out fire fighting drills and inform the Flight Crew immediately.
Can you move a smoking or burning electronic device?
No, do not attempt to pick up or move a burning or smoking
electronic device.
What do you do when you extinguish a fire in an
electronic device powered by lithium batteries?
Douse it in water for at least 15 seconds to cool it down
What do you do after extinguishing an electronic device
fire and dousing it in water?
Put it in the Fire Sock, move it to the galley and monitor it for 15
minutes.
Where do you stow the Fire Sock when it’s being used
to contain a hazardous device?
In a metal container secured in a toilet as per dangerous goods handling
procedure

passengers must fasten seatbelts. - Use pillows and blankets to cover the leak and reduce the noise level.
- Monitor the area regularly.
What is the Captain’s PA when oxygen is required upon
the aircraft levelling off after a Rapid Descent.
“This is the Captain. We have had to perform a rapid descent. You must
remain seated and continue to wear your oxygen mask. Cabin Crew may
