How often should SCCM check in with flight deck?
Every 30 mins
Can CCMs use their phones?
No they must be turned OFF when they board and they may not look at them until all passengers have disembarked
How does a SCCM check if interphones are working?
The SCCM should make a PA announcement to advise cabin crewmembers of the Interphone check and then make an INTPH ALL call
Each cabin crewmember is required to pick up their respective handset and speak to the SCCM, stating their name and their location to confirm that the PA announcement has been heard
US Transportation Security Administration [TSA] requirement for smoke detectors
To comply with the requirements of the Transportation Security Administration [TSA] in the USA, tamper evident seals have been fitted to the integral lavatory smoke detectors on wide bodied aircraft
The seals are designed to allow easy recognition of unauthorised interference with the smoke detectors
How do CCMs check lifejackets?
Remove the lifejacket pouch from its pouch
Check that the ripcord on the lifejacket package is intact and that there are no sign that the package has been tampered with
Procedure for Aircraft Security Declaration Form for Long-Haul Flights
ICTS complete their search record signed by the Supervisor
ICTS then hand over the signed copy to the SCCM
SCCM signs EI ‘Aircraft Security Declaration Form’
SCCM hands both the ICTS & EI form to the Captain for signature
Captain hands over both the ICTS & EI signed forms to the Dispatcher
When should turnaround seals be placed?
Cabin crew must apply a seal to all catering units prior to landing at an outstation
How are turnaround seals checked?
CCM responsible for the galley check the numbered seals are in the same order and not tampered with
When can turnaround seals be removed?
When boarding has started

Defects identified with catering equipment during a flight should be detailed on an adhesive “Unserviceable Catering Equipment” label

- Ensure they take all their luggage
- Check relevant overhead lockers: all items remaining in the overhead lockers must be reconciled with remaining passengers and all unidentified items shall be removed from the aircraft
- Check seat back and seat pockets
- Check area underneath the seat
- Check life jacket and stowage area
- Check any areas the passenger[s] may have had access to [e.g. lavatories]
How do flight deck notify CCMs that it is 10 mins to landing?

Procedure for re-opening doors after arming
The SCCM shall:
- Contact the Commander and confirm permission to disarm the relevant door
- Instruct the cabin crewmember at the relevant door to disarm the door
-> The procedure must be crosschecked by the SCCM at each stage
- Check with the Commander [via interphone, as necessary] to confirm that the relevant door is disarmed and confirm permission to open the door
- Instruct the cabin crewmember to close and re-arm the door

No unauthorised person will be granted permission to enter the flight deck at any time
Passengers will not normally be permitted to visit the flight deck during flight, however, the Commander may permit visits on the ground when the aircraft is parked on a stand

Before take-off and landing, please ensure that your baggage is stowed overhead, the floor area must be clear
Please familiarize yourself with the opening instruction on this placard and on your safety card. These exits are designed to be opened by passengers in the event of an emergency. You would only be required to open this exit on hearing a command from the crew, before opening the exit check that it is safe to do so

Smoking Violation Procedure

Briefing for unaccompanied children
Inform the unaccompanied child on the following: a) which adult will assist with the operation of the seat belt and the fitting of the oxygen mask if the situation requires it; b) the content of the passenger safety briefing card; and c) in case of evacuation, to seek the assistance of adult passenger(s) in contacting a crew member.
Inform the passenger sitting next to the unaccompanied child to assist with: a) providing the child with an oxygen mask in case of decompression after fitting one’s own mask; b) securing/releasing the child’s seat belt, if necessary; and c) calling a cabin crew member in all other in-flight situations.

Death on Board Procedure
In the event that it is suspected that the death of a passenger or a crewmember has occurred on board an aircraft, the passenger / crewmember must be assumed to be alive and appropriate First Aid continued until professional medical personnel can provide treatment

Cabin crew shall provide absorbent material which should be placed on the floor to contain any fluids.
When complete this material should be placed in a bio hazard bag by the passenger and stored in the normal way

- The smoke detectors have not been tampered with
- The flushing motor is not running continuously
- The flap of the waste bin is closed
- There are no significant water leaks
- Lavatory is adequately stocked with supplies

What should CCMs look for when checking cabin areas?
- Aisles are clear of obstruction
- Overhead lockers are closed
- Smoking regulations are observed
- Regulations regarding the use of PEDs are observed
- Passengers are not involved in any activity that could endanger flight safety
- Passengers are not interfering with any part of the aircraft interior or equipment
