OF learning – determines who moves forward by standardized test. Diagnostic – measures discrepancies in achievement goals. Norm referenced – comparing against the average of like students. Criterion referenced – referenced against criteria students are required to know. Capstone/summative – Culminating assessment of what students know. Authentic (performance)- journals, portfolios, interviews, observations, projects that show what you know Graded through a rubric

Puts too much focus on tests. Raises the status quo for some but lowers it for others. Test data could be used to railroad quality teachers out of the system. May encroach on the freedoms of homeschoolers. Not solving the real issue which is childhood poverty and it’s effects on the children’s ability to learn and function in a school environment.
