Budget owner
Is a key stakeholder and, in some cases, may be the same person as the owner of the event. Has the overall responsibility for the income and expenditures related to the event.
Event attendees/participants
These are the people whose participation is required to achieve the designated event objectives.
Event owner
The person who has requested the event & is responsible for defining its overall objectives and measurable outcomes.
External stakeholders
Includes attendees, sponsors and the community where the event is taking place.
Internal stakeholders
Includes the owner of the project and the owner of the budget.
Lockout
1) Refusal by a facility to allow guests access to their guest rooms. 2) Labor action where employers refuse access to the facility by employees.
Minimum Call Agreed and Minimum Contract Time Agreed
Agreed upon minimum number of hours of work to be done by a worker under the labour agreement. In cases where the work to be done is shorter than the minimum call, the worker is guaranteed payment for the full minimum.
OT
1) Overtime. 2) On Truck or Railway.
Outsource
To subcontract a task or responsibility to a supplier to handle some aspect of an event, instead of using in-house staff.
Overtime
Time worked by an employee outside of, or in addition to, regular working time or beyond the standard workweek.
Overtime (OT)
Labour Work performed in excess of the standard day or week. Typically billed at a higher rate.
Perk
Payment, benefit, or privilege received in addition to regular income or salary.
Reporting Pay
Guaranteed payment to employees who report or show up ready for work at their usual time and find no work to do.
Semi-Skilled Labour
1) Persons whose work is limited to a well-defined work routine. 2) Work in which lapses of performance would not cause excessive damage to products or equipment.
Stakeholders
Persons or organizations who are actively involved in the project or whose interests may be positively or negatively affected by the performance or completion of a project.
Stakeholder Approach
Event professionals take into account their responsibilities to others and adopt a consultative demeanor, including stakeholders in the event’s decision-making process
Union Call
1) The number of union members hired to work for an event. 2) Additional servers obtained from a labour source shared by several hotels. 3) The minimum number of hours for which a union labourer must be paid, regardless of actual hours worked.
Union Jurisdiction
The limits or territory within which control may be exercised by a union may be of at least two kinds. One has to do with geographical limits, the other with trade or craft activity.
Union Shop
A business in which all employees must be members in good standing of a union.
