Staging - Supraglottis Flashcards
Tis
Carcinoma in situ
T1
Tumor limited to one subsite of the supraglottis, with normal vocal cord mobility
- Subsites for supraglottis: epiglottis, aryepiglottic folds, arytenoids, false vocal folds, and ventricles)
T2
Tumor invades mucosa of more than one adjacent subsite of the supraglottis or glottis or regions outside the supraglottis (mucosa of BOT, medial wall of piriform sinus, vallecula), no fixation of the larynx
T3
Tumor limited to the larynx, with vocal cord fixation; and/or invasion of the postcricoid area, pre-epiglottic space, and paraglottic space, and partial invasion through the inner cortex of thyroid cartilage
T4a
Same as glottis
Tumor invades through the outer cortex of the thyroid cartilage and/or invades tissues beyond the larynx (trachea, soft tissues of neck, deep extrinsic muscles of tongue, strap muscles, thyroid, esophagus)
T4b
Same as glottis
Tumor invades prevertebral space, encases carotid artery, or invades mediastinal structures
