Anatomy Flashcards
What are the 3 sites larynx
supraglottis, glottis, subglottis
What consists of supraglottis?
suprahyoid and infrahyoid epiglottis, aryepiglottic folds, arytenoids, false vocal folds, and ventricles
What consists of glottis?
true vocal cords including anterior/posterior commissures, 5 mm inferior to free margin of true cords
What consists of subglottis?
lower boundary of the glottis to the inferior aspect of the cricoid cartilage
What consists of hypopharynx?
Pyriform sinuses, the Postcricoid area, posterior Pharyngeal wall (The 3 Ps)
What is the incidence of laryngeal cancer in terms of the site locations?
- Glottis (65-70%) 2. Supraglottis (25-30%) 3. Subglottis (1%)
Under the scope exam, describe the relative location of the vestibular fold and focal fold
Vestibular fold (false vocal cord) is more lateral superiorly positioned.
What forms the vocal ligament/fold = true vocal cords?
The edges of the cricothyroid membraine (conus elasticus)
What are the 3 Ps of hypopharynx?
Piriform Sinus, Post-cricoid area, Posteror pharyngeal wall
What is the anatomical borders for piriform sinus?
Aryepiglottic fold, thyroid cartilage, hyothyroid membrane
What are the anatomical borders of post-cricoid area?
Aryepiglottic fold, posterior surfice of the arytenoid, inferior of cricoid cartilage
What are the anatomicl borders of the posterior pharyngeal wall?
From the epiglottis to the inferior border of the criocid cartilage
What is the cranial border and the caudal border of hypopharynx?
Cranial border: Epiglottis (C3-4 level)
Caudal border: Cricoid cartilage (C5-6 level)
Name the anatomy from 1 to 7
Describe the location of the vallecula under the scope exam
Between tongue base and epiglottis
