Incubation
Pathogen enters your body and replicates, no symptoms yet.

Prodromal stage
Pathogen is detected by immune system and early response is inititated. Develop low grade fever and fatigue.

Illness
Infection takes place and your symptoms are generally specific to the pathogen that is causing them.
Define
Period of decline
Infectious agent decreases and patient is beginning to feel better.
Define
Convalescence
Immune system has won and pathogens go bye bye.
Shingles is typically preceded by pain, itching, tingling, or burning along the affected dermatome. What stage of infection is taking place?
Prodromal stage. Illness would be if the erythematous rash with fluid filled blisters showed up.
