Stable App, Landing, Go Around Flashcards
General division of tasks on app
PM - leads assessment/communication of stability
PF - leads assessment/communication of visibility
3 gates
1000ft AAE - config gate
500ft AAE - stable gate
200ft AAE - go around gate
1000ft gate
Fully config
Landing check complete
500ft gate
- Correct lateral/vertical flight path
- Airspeed stabilized on target (+10/-5)
- Rate of descent stabilized (not above 1000fpm
200ft gate
Shall not continue past 200ft gate unless 1000/500 gate req fully met
ICAO touchdown markings
LDA 4900ft - 7900ft: 4 markings (2000ft)
LDA 7900ft and above: 6 markings (3000ft)
FAA TDZ markings
LDA Less then 6900ft - 4 markings (2000ft)
LDA 6900-7990ft - 5 markings (2500ft)
LDA 7990ft and above - 6 markings (3000ft)
Optimum touchdown zone
Optimum target area for main gear to touchdown
Begins at aiming point markings
Ends at:
ICAO - next marking (2000ft)
FAA - second subsequent marking (2000ft)
Touchdown point limit
TPL is the end of the TDZ or if no markings visible, first 1/3 of the runway (limited to 3000ft)
What will a B indicate next to landing data on the OFP?
Extra runway is <1000ft
If B is indicated on the flight plan what shall you brief?
OTZ location
How to ident the OTZ at night or snow covered?
- Begins with PAPI, ends 1000ft past
- Begins where glide path and runway meet or 1000ft from threshold and ends 1000ft past
- End of touchdown zone light indicates the end of the TDZ
- 1 second airborne is equal to 250ft
Lateral touchdown point limit
Furthest point laterally an aircraft can drift away from the centreline after which a go around is mandatory
Lateral limit is reached when either main landing gear crosses the runway centreline
