Min speed ATC can request within 20nm of a field
Jets - 160KIAS
Min rates of descent
CAN - 1000fpm
USA - 1500fpm
Pilots discretion descent
Intermediate level offs ok if ATC advised
When ready descent
No level offs allowed, start descent whenever
Position reports to dispatch
When operating outside of NAT/PAC FIR’s or when CPDLC
within 2 hrs after departure and no more then every 2 hrs thereafter
Hold speeds and timings
Above 14k - 265kias 1 1/2 mins
Below 14k - 230kias 1 min
Min fuel declaration
If going to land below planned final fuel reserves.
Does not give priority
Fuel emergency
Will land with less then reserve fuel.
MSA parameters
- At least 25nm
- 1000ft obstacle clearance
- 4nm buffer between sectors
CATII req vis - CAN
RVR A - 1200 or charted
RVR B - 600
Both Req
CATII req vis - USA (1 or 2 RVR reported)
1 RVR - RVR A : 1400 or charted
2 RVR - RVR A: 1200 or charted
RVR B - 600
RVR C - 300
RVR A always req, B/C only needs one but both controlling if both reported
CATII req vis - OTHER
RVR A - 350 meters or charted
RVR B or C - 175 meters
RVR app other then CATII/III
- RVR A reported it is controlling regardless of reported vis
- If A not available RVR B is controlling
- If RVR fluctuating lowest value shall be used
- Rollout RVR not limiting
- In Canada if no RVR then:
- runway vis less then 20 mins old or
- reported ground vis
For CAT I ILS, in Canada, reduction toRVR 1800 authorized if:
- DA is 200ft or less
- RVR A req
- App flown by captain
Advisory vertical guidance
Add 50’ to non precision DA/MDA for constant descent app.
