Fluoxetine/Prozac
dosing-
start- 20mg/day (equivalent- 90mg 1x/week pill)
max dose 80mg/day
ADRs
sexual dysfunction
possible but not expected weight gain
GI- NV that tends to last 2 weeks after starting the med
CNS (insomnia, sedation, agitation, tremors, headache, dizziness)
may induce mania
Can cause hyponatremia (dizziness, clumsiness)
Takes 4 to 8 weeks for full efficacy
Sertraline/Zoloft
Take in the evening- tends to make people sleepy
Should feel less depression and anxiety by week 3
First 2 weeks- may have increased anxiety and N/V
Long term- can cause wt gain and sexual dysfunction
SSS- stomach (nausea, vomiting), sexual dysfunction, very rare serotonin syndrome
Takes 4 weeks to see around 20% improvement in symptoms
Takes 8 weeks to see a full effect
ADRs
Sexual ADRs
GI- nausea, diarrhea, constipation, dry mouth
CNS- insomnia or sedation, agitation, tremors, HA, dizziness
Autonomic- sweating
SIADH
Can cause hyponatremia
Escitalopram/Lexapro
Wakes people up
Fast onset of action
Good for panic attacks
Good for PTSD
Works on both insomnia and hypersomnia
Good for anxiety
Can decrease appetite

Paroxetine/Paxil
Good for anxiety
Good for depression
Good for insomnia

CNS ADRs (headache, tremors, dizziness, insomnia or hypersomnia, agitation)
Citalopram/celexa
GI- constipation, reduced appetite, nausea, dry mouth, diarrhea
Neuro- sedation, dizziness, blurry vision, headache, tremors, insomnia, agitation
