What origin were Spartans ?
They were of Dorian origin, which were the strongest inhabitants of the peloponnese, who invade and captured the surrounding villages

Never showed cowardice- this would bring public disgrace and humiliation for his family.

- Had to walk about unshaven
- Had to eat alone, not the syssitia
- Could not marry
- Could not marry his daughters to Spartans
- Had to sit alone at public meetings
