George Washington
Native American who sided with the British early in the French and Indian War. He wanted the French to leave the area around Pittsburg

designed his famous Join or Die cartoon to gain support for the Albany Plan. He believed that the colonies would only be strong if they were united during the French and Indian War
Benjamin Franklin
British general who led a second attack on Fort Duquesne. He was killed in the battle and the English lost because they did not adapt to the French an Native Americans fighting tactics.
General Braddock
English general who was tasked with capturing Fort Louisbourg in Eastern Canada. He was successful and the capture of the fort was critical for the british. He also led an attack on Fort Quebec but was killed in the Battle
General Wolfe
Was sent to capture Fort Duquesne in 1758. When his troops arrived, the Fort was already destroyed by the French.
General Forbes
A French commander who was killed at Fort Quebec. The British took the Fort and the French only had one remaining stronghold in North America left (Montreal).
General Montcalm
Native American who wanted to keep the British from taking more land. Led a rebellion against and attempted to take Fort Pitt. He attacked forts and settlements in Western PA.
Pontiac
English commander sent to stop settlements. Won the Battle of Bushy Run which put an end to Pontiac’s Rebellion

Part of the Seven Years War in North America between the French and English. Each side was joined by groups of Native Americans. They were fighting over the land of the Ohio River Valley

War between Great Britain and France over territory. Both countries wanted to be the most powerful
Albany Plan
Created by Ben Franklin and Thomas Hutchinson. It was an effort to get the colonies to unite under a central government
Join or Die Cartoon
Created by Ben Frank to help gain support for the Albany Plan. Represented the colonies uniting as one in their war against France
Ohio River Valley
an area of land that borders the Ohio River. Was a crucial region during the French and Indian War
Fort LeBoeuf
French fort near present day Erie
Fort Duquesne
French Fort near present day Pittsburgh. Was key in controlling the Ohio River. After multiple attempts at taking the fort, British finally got the area when the French destroyed it themselves
Fort Necessity
Small fort built quickly by Washington’s men so that they had a fort near Fort Duquesne. The fort was lost after French and Native Attack that used guerilla style fighting.
Fort Pitt
British built this fort in place of Fort Duquesne so that they could control the Ohio River. Named after the British prime minister, William Pitt
Treaty of Paris
treaty that ended the French and Indian war. Signed in Paris. The English received control of most of Canada and all the land east of the Mississippi River. Effectively removed the French from North America
Pontiac’s Rebellion
Uprising in the western PA frontier. Led of Chief Pontiac, Native Americans attacked British settlements and forts in attempt of getting British out of Native American territory
Battle of Bushy Run
Battle between Pontiac’s forces and the English, ed by the Colonial Bouquet. The British won the Battle and stopped the fighting of Pontiac’s Rebellion.
