DBQ- What does an “Eye for an eye” mean? Why do you think it was important for King Hammurabi of Babylon to have laws written down?

A

An “Eye for an eye” means a “Tooth for a tooth.” I think it was important that King Hammurabi of Babylon set strict laws down to govern people by because if he didn’t he probably wouldn’t be considered a ‘king’ at all, and things would get crazy and really out of hand.
Hint-Always restate, then answer the question using specific details.
