Define squint
Condition in which the eyes do not properly align with eachother when focusing on an object
What are 2 causes of squint?
Idiopathic
CN palsies
IF left alone, what can happen to a squint?
Permanent Amblyopia
What test do we do in a squint exam?
Cover test
If eye moves medially to nose in the cover test what is this called
Exotropia
If eye moves laterally away from nose in the cover test what is this called
Esotropia
If eye moves downwards to chin in the cover test what is this called
Hypertropia
If eye moves upwards to hair in the cover test what is this called
Hypotropia
How to correct squint (2)
Therapy via optial correction + surgery + wearing of patches to help correct their eye
