Explain the inverted u theory
Athletes need to have the optimum level of arousal to perform successfully. If the athlete is under aroused they may be lethargic, distracted, or disinterested and miss a critical movement by an opponent. If they are over aroused, they may become stressed, anxious, or overwhelmed and unable to focus on the surrounding movements

What is motivation
Motivation is the reason for participating in an activity, learning the skills involved, training and practising and dedicating effort to improve. Less motivated athletes will prevent athletes from reaching his or her potential

Comes from within and occurs when factors such as enjoyment, satisfaction, and live of the sport and a challenge are primary sources
