What is negligence
When someone fails to take reasonable care for another person to avoid any dangers that could cause harm/wrongdoing
Name and explain different parts of a coach’s duty of care
Health and safety:
-Must have access to first aid
-Must have a means of contacting emergency services when necessary
Protection from abuse:
-Coaches must protect athletes from emotional and physical abuse
Supplements:
-Coaches must educate their athletes about drug use and abuse
-Provision of guidance around nutrition and PEDs
Duty of care:
-maintaining appropriate adult to child ratios
-ensuring adults are safe to work with children
-keeping up-to-date contact and medical details as well as registers
Use of legislation in relation to spectators
-Removal of terrace and fences (easy escape route to pitch when there’s a risk of stampede)
-All seater stadiums
-Alcohol sales controlled in and around the ground
-Police imposed kick off times
-Increased security and police prescence
-Tougher deterrents for those who break the rules
