A bitter liqueur distilled from wormwood and flavored with herbs, with a distinctive anise flavor. 36 proof (68% alcohol).

What is the French absinthe ritual by which absinthe is traditionally (and safely) drunk?
A
Pour 1oz into a glass, place a sugar cube in an absinthe spoon across the rim, and slowly pour cold water onto the sugar until saturated. Let dissolve and continue pouring water slowly until the desired dilution is achieved (3-5 parts water : 1 part absinthe). Stir.
