Distraction test
Assess cervical spine pain due to nerve impingement. Hand under chin and occiput. Lift up. Should relieve pain.
Valsalva test
Hold breath, bear down. Tests for space-occupying lesion by increasing inrathecal pressure. Pain may radiate to corresponding dermatome of affected level.
Adson test
Determines if compression of subclavian artery. Feel radial pulse, AB-duct arm, externally rotate. If compression, marked or absence of pulse.
Compression test
Push down on head.
Straight leg raise
Discogenic disease affecting sciatic nerve.
Hoover test
Used to determine pt effort during straight leg raise test
Fabere or Patrick test
Detect pathology in hip and sacroiliac joint
Trendelenburg test
Evaluates strength of gluteus medius muscle
Thomas test
Detect flexion contractures
