What is the functions of the diencephalon region of the brain?
Responsible for sensory processing, autonomic, control, and hormone regulation
Responsible for process and transmitting sensory information, except smell, to cerebral cortex. It functions in motor control, consciousness, alertness, and sleep regulation.
Thalamus
Functions in maintaining homeostasis by regulating body temperature, hunger and thirst. For the autonomic nervous system it regulates heart rate, blood pressure and digestion. In the endocrine system, it regulates by releasing hormones that control the pituitary gland. It also controls emotion and behavior.
Hypothalamus
Connect the limbic system to other parts of the brain. It regulates emotions, memory responses to odors. It contains the pineal gland.
Epithalamus
What functions in secreting melatonin. Response to light and darkness.
