Newborn screenings can be rejected for any of these reasonings
Circle is oversaturated
Circles not completely filled
Expired form is used
The form is not received within 14 days of collection
Specimen contains a foreign substance
It has not been allowed to drive thoroughly
Circles have serum rings
A note for a newborn screening’s
Blood is applied to only one side of the farm avoid touching the skin with the card, avoid bleeding or attempting to color in the circle with several drops of blood
First couple steps to newborn screening’s
Properly identify the infant
Ensure the paperwork is completely filled out, including guardians phone number
Do not touch the filter, paper part
Wash hands down gloves
Check the temperature of the heel warm if necessary
Cleanse the infants feet with an anti-septic
Continuation of newborn screening’s
Puncture the hill across the prince of the hill with a semi automatic, lancet device, know deeper than 2 mm
Wipe off the first drop of blood
Allow large blood drop to form at the puncture site
Do not use capillary tubes
Air dry for three hours keep them away from direct sunlight
Wet filter papers do not touch each other
