Speech Disorder Flashcards
Cluttering
Cluttering (also called tachyphemia or tachyphrasia) is a speech and communication disorder characterized by a rapid rate of speech, erratic rhythm, and poor syntax or grammar, making speech difficult to understand.
Coprolalia
Coprolalia is involuntary swearing or the involuntary utterance of obscene words or socially inappropriate and derogatory remarks. Coprolalia comes from the Greek κόπρος (kopros) meaning “feces” and λαλιά (lalia) from lalein, “to talk”.[
Verbigeration vs perseveration
. Verbigeration is obsessive repetition of random words. It is similar to preservation, in which a person repeats words in response to a stimulus. However, verbigeration occurs when a person repeats words without a stimulus.
