IDEA
Definition: As the nation’s special education law, IDEA provides rights and protections to children with disabilities and to their parents or legal guardians. Learning your rights under IDEA can make it easier to get the help your child needs (and is legally entitled to) at school.

ADA
Definition: The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is a revolutionary piece of legislation designed to protect the civil rights of people who have physical and mental disabilities, in a manner similar to that in which previous civil rights laws have protected people of various races, religions, and ethnic backgrounds.
What it covers:
-The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) prohibits discrimination against employees (and job applicants) who have physical or mental impairments that substantially limit “major life activities.”. Major life activies include walking, sitting, reading, seeing, and communicating.
How ADA relates to children with a disability: It relates to children with a diasbility because only students who hvae a disability are able to have ADA.
Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act
Definition:
-Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 defines what a disability is in the classroom and protects students with disabilities from discrimination.
What it covers:
-The federal government enforces Section 504 in all programs or entities that receive funding from the U.S. Department of Education
How Section 505 of the Rehabilitation Act relates to children with a disability:
-As defined by Section 504, a student is understood to have a disability if they have a mental or physical impairment (or a record of impairment).
-The federal government considers a student to be disabled if they are substantially limited in their major life activities.
