HCTZ (Hydrochlorothiazide)

A
  1. Thiazide type Diuretic
  2. Lowering BP and causing diuresis of edema
  3. promotes excretion of Cl, K, H, Mg, Ph, Ca
  4. Can Cause Hypotension / hypokalemia
  5. TURNS URINE BLUE / PHOTOSENSITIVITY
  6. wear sunscreen and change position slowly

  1. Loop Diuretic
  2. Can cause hypokalemia
  3. Works extremely fast
  4. Watch for Hearing changes
  5. Can increase uric acid levels and gout symptoms

  1. K+ sparing diuretic
  2. Causes loss of Na & Ca and saves K+
  3. Contraindicated in Hyperkalemia

  1. Anticholinergic (Antispasmodic)
  2. Contraindicated in Narrow angle glaucoma, Myasthenia gravis,, CAD, & issues w/ motility
  3. Can Cause
    - dry mouth, tachycardia, N/V, Headache and dizziness

(phenazopyradine) (Pyridium)

  1. Nonopioid analgesic used for urinary mucosa anesthetic
  2. Relief from transurethral surgery / neurogenic bladder
  3. Contraindicated in Renal Insufficiency
  4. Causes orange-red urine that can stain

Flovent (fluticasone)

  1. Anti-inflammatories steroidal
  2. Can cause dry mouth, cough, oral fungal infections, hoarseness
  3. Use bronchodilators 1st, then after 5 minutes use corticosteroid
  4. Rinse mouth after use to reduce fungal infection

  1. Non steroidal anti-inflammatory (Leukotriene Receptor Antagonist)
  2. Can cause Headache, dizziness, N/V/D, myalgia
  3. Administer on empty stomach
  4. Monitor theophylline levels, PT/INR levels if on these drugs concurrently
