A
- extends 3nm outward from the coast
- contains activity hazardous to non-participating aircraft
- may be located over domestic or international waters

A
- contain unusual aerial activity
- high volume of pilot training or unusual aerial activity (glider towing, parachute jumping)

A
- separate military training activities from standard VFR traffic
- VFR pilots should exercise extreme caution when transitioning an MOA
- contact FSS for active times

Airport advisory area
A
- extend 10sm from airport where FSS is located and no control tower
- contact FSS on CTAF 123.6 prior to entering
- provide you with LAA (local airport advisory service)
- somewhat like ATIS

Military training routes (MTR)
A
- contain low level high speed flight training
- below 10000’ MSL
- speeds at 250kts or greater
- routes below 1,500’ AGL are flown under VFR
- routes above 1,500’ AGL are IFR
- contact FSS within 100NM for current info on MTR’s

A
- Put out by FAA to protect persons or property on the surface and in air
- Provide safe environment for

- areas of high public interest - FAA issues a NOTAM for the TFR which contains
- facility issuing TFR

- affected altitudes
- phone numbers for more info - Examples president visits, super bowl, wild fires, Olympics

Parachute jump areas
A
- are in A/FD
- indicated on chart by parachute

Emergency air traffic rules
A
- issued by FAA when ATC services can’t operate at the required level of safety
- NOTAM issued for applicable airspace
- no person may operate an aircraft in conflict with the NOTAM

ADIZ (air defense identification zone)

- located at US/Mexico border
- must file IFR or DVFR (defense VFR) flight plan
- must have Mode C transponder
- two way radio communication
