What is GAP Analysis?
A gap analysis is a way to compare what is happening now in our Maintenace program with what we want to happen in the future. It helps us see what we need to do to get there.
When and how should be Accomplish a gap analysis?
A gap analysis is accomplished when there is a revision to any OEM source document. Procedures for accomplishing gap analysis is in the DPM chapter 4.
Why is it important to do a Gap Analysis?
“A gap analysis is conducted to ensure that the revised source documentation is reviewed and incorporated.”
We should determine during revision of revised(updated) source documentation of any FAA obligatory________________ requirements.

What are the three teams that work together to determine if a revision to the OEM source document requires a change in the maintenance program and schedule for Southwest?
The three teams are MX Programs Development, Performance & Optimization and Reliability. They base their decision on Southwest’s operational needs, experience, and the Southwest Continuous Airworthiness Maintenance Program’s (CAMP) goals and philosophy
*What questions should we ask when looking at a revision of source documents?
– Are there changes to the intervals?
– FEC codes?
– Addition or deletion of a task?
– Escalation or de-escalation of a task?
– Is the change regulatory?
– Does the task impact other departments?
What are changes to intervals?
relating to how often a maintenance task is performed measured in flight hours or cycles.
What are FEC codes?
Failure Effect Category Codes
What is an escalation or de-scalation of a task?
that is increasing or decreasing the interval between maintenance.
What is a regulatory change?
- Does the revision affect a task with a FEC 5 or 8 code (Safety related)?
If Yes, incorporate the change
- Does the change affect AWL or regulatory requirements?
– If Yes, incorporate the change.
- Does the change affect a CPCP task?
If Yes, all changes have to go through the CPCP board.
