The caste system is a social structure that determines what social class your going to be at birth.
What is yoga?
A series of physical positions with strengthen you Hindu spiritualism.
What is Moksha?
One’s release from the cycle of rebirth, to become one with the universe.
Who was Buddha?
Buddha was born a prince, but abandoned his royal life and possessions to pursue a path of spiritual enlightenment.
What are the 4 noble truths?
1: truth of suffering.
2: the truth of the cause of suffering.
3: the truth of the end of suffering.
4: the truth of the path that leads to the end of suffering.
What is an 8 fold path?
1: knowing the 4 noble truths.
2: deciding what is most important to you.
3: expressing honesty and kindness to others.
4: to not live a immoral lifestyle.
5: living an uplifting life.
6: living a life of effort.
7: being mindful of one’s actions.
8: meditation.
What is meditation?
A means of transforming the mind.
What is Nirvana?
The ultimate reality, the end of one’s self and the reunion with the Great World Soul.
Who was Ashoka
Ashoka was an Indian emperor who ruled the largest kingdom Indian history. He was known for committing mass murders and torturing his prisoners. However he converted to Buddhism and began to rule his kingdom with Buddhist ideologies.
What frustrations with Hinduism allowed Buddhism to find followers in India?
Buddhism offered an alternative approach to living an enlightened life for those who were lower on the caste system.
Why did Buddhism struggle to stay popular in India?
Although Buddhism had offered an alternative belief for those lower on the caste system, people stuck with Hinduism because they felt that they by not going through life in their individual caste they weren’t going to fulfill their dharma and be reborn end as something worse.
What is Karma?
The force of one’s actions in this life, which determines how one will be reborn in the next life.
