Where is the Tigris &Euphrates Rivers located?
The Tigris river is above Mesopotamia and the Euphrates River is below Mesopotamia.
Where is the Nile River located?
The Nile river cuts through upper and lower Egypt located north east Africa.
What is Hammurabi’s code?
Preserved Babylonian law code from Mesopotamia.
What was the Epic of Gilgamesh?
A tale about a man named Gilgamesh trying to save as many people and animals from his civilization with an arc like boat, after the gods accidentally create an unstoppable hurricane like storm.
What are hieroglyphics?
A pictogram-like writing system unique to Egyptians.
Who were Pharaohs?
Ancient Egyptian rulers, or monarchs. They were very well respected and were considered gods.
How did the Mesopotamian rivers shape life in Mesopotamia?
The flooding of the Euphrates and Tigris rivers in Mesopotamia were in some instances positive, but the flooding was to unpredictable.
How did the Nile river shape life in Egypt?
The Nile river is the longest in the world and literally splits Egypt into two parts. The Nile’s influence on the Egyptian’s way of life from religion, culture and even it’s annual flooding was considered positive, contributing to the rich soil and farm land. Egyptians even referred to it as a “miracle.”
Why did the Egyptians mummify the dead?
In order to preserve the physical body in preparation for the afterlife. Sometimes the body was buried with prized possession and relics from their life to take with them to the after life.
What were the major features and differences between Mesopotamian, and Egyptian religions?
Mesopotamian religion was more focused on polytheism, which is the belief in multiple gods or goddesses. If anything was to occur it was the result of one of the gods. Egyptian religion was centered around the ideology that one continues life regularly after death, so they preserve their bodies and possessions to move on.
Where is the Fertile Crescent?
The fertile area around Mesopotamia stretching down to the Persian gulf, and stretching up to Asia Minor.
