What are the ejection seat pin recovery methods?

A

a) If you drop and unable to retrieve it:

  • Inform SXO and proceed abeam weather shed B
  • Shut down engine & remained strapped in with mask on, visor down and canopy closed.
  • Once salvage crew arrives with spare pin, open canopy and insert it in
  • Exit the A/C as per normal

b) If unable to insert the seat pin back into the ejection seat:

  • Inform SXO and proceed abeam weather shed B
  • Shut down engine & remained strapped in with mask on, visor down and canopy closed.
  • Salvage crew will advise on how to insert seat pin in with a headset (Salvage crew will don on the headset outside of the A/C to talk to you)
  • Once seat pin in inserted, exit the cockpit as per normal.
