Somatic symptoms are not present, or if present are only mild in intensity

Has been present at least 6 months

Preoccupation with an imagined defect in appearance
Distress
Not accounted for by other illness like anorexia nervosa
Body Dysmorphic Disorder
Intentional feigning of physical or psychological symptoms
- The motivation is to assume the “sick role”
- External incentives, such as money or avoiding legal problems, is absent
Factitious Disorder
The act of intentionally feigning or exaggerating physical or psychological symptoms for personal gain
