Somatic Motor System Flashcards
What are the two Types of Movement?
Reflexive and Voluntary
Voluntary also has subcategory of Rhythmic (they look reflexive but are voluntary)
What is the Feedforward Control Mechanism
Anticipatory Control/ Planning in Advance
What is Feedback Control?
Monitoring movement and comparing desired movement with actual movement (error correction)
Uses sensory info to make adjustments after movement
What are the 4 Subsystems that control functional movement?
Dorsolateral, Ventromedial, Corticonuclear, and Visual Motor
What tracts are contained in Dorsolateral system?
Lateral Corticospinal and Rubrospinal Tract
What tracts are located in Ventromedial System?
Anterior Corticospinal, Reticulospinal, and vestibulospinal tracts
What is serial Processing?
A pathway goes from one place to another and then to another (one after other)
What is Parallel processing?
When all tracts work together to produce coordinated movement
How does Motor System transform goals into appropriate actions?
Requires:
- Motor Plan
- Execution
- Monitoring
