Somatic Symptom Disorder
A. Distressing somatic symptoms
B. Excessive thoughts, feelings, beliefs or behaviors about symptoms:
1. Disproportionate thoughts about seriousness
2. high level of anxiety
3. Excessive time devoted to symptoms
C. Typically more than 6 months
Illness Anxiety Disorder
Hypochondria
A. Preoccupation with having serious illness.
B. Somatic symptoms not present/mild. If family history, preoccupation excessive.
C. High level of anxiety about health
D. Excessive health related behaviors, or maladaptive avoidance.
E. Preoccupation has been present for at least 6 months.
F. Not better explained by another disorder.
Conversion Disorder
A. One or more symptoms of altered voluntary motor or sensory function
B. incompatibility between symptom and recognized neurological/medical conditions
C. Not better explained by another medical/mental
D. Causes clinically significant impairment.
Factitious Disorder Imposed on Self or Other
A. Falsification of physical/psychological signs or symptoms, or induction of injury in relation to deception.
B. presents themselves as ill, impaired, injured.
C. Behavior is evident even in absence of obvious external rewards.
D. Not better explained by delusional or psychotic disorder.
