A
  • Units arriving on scene report “on scene” via MDT

Progress Reports

A
  • Command will provide Dispatch with regular progress reports when significant tactical plans are changed or unusual situations are encountered.
  • First progress report given after initial action has been implemented and should include correct address and improved description of the building and fire conditions if arrival report was incomplete
  • First report should include declaration of a working fire when appropriate and give an indication of the time companies will be held at the scene

Working Fire

A
  • Indicates a situation which will require commitment of all responding companies.
  • Advises dispatch that the companies will be engaged in tactical activities and will be held at scene for an extended period of time.

When Notified of a Working Fire, Alarm Will:

  1. Assign a Tactical Channel if requested by Command
  2. Dispatch Police Department for traffic and crowd control
  3. Dispatch gas and electric utilities when the need is indicated
  4. Be prepared to dispatch further assistance
  5. Be prepared to dispatch any special agencies or equipment when the need is indicated
  6. Evaluate the need for relocation assignments

Staging

A
  • Level I Staging arriving units will report their identity and direction from the scene on the assigned Tactical Channel. If assigned to sector or task on fire ground, “On-Scene” key shall be depressed.
  • If Level II Staging is requested by Command, Dispatch will announce the staging location and dispatch all further assistance to that location. Units arriving to Level II report in person to the Staging Officer. Staging Officer manages all radio communications to and from Staging Area.
