A

24
Q

Triple-

A

A hit that permits the batter to reach third base

25
Q

Walk

A
  • 4 balls thrown outside the strike zone, hitter chooses not to swing at them
26
Q

Grip:

A

Hands together, Knocking knuckles aligned

27
Q

Swing:

A

The swing begins with the legs and hips (the hands and shoulders stay back.) As the hands begin to move the knob of the bat toward the ball, the hitter does not allow
the bat head to fall below the hands. The lead arm maintains a 90-degree angle.

28
Q

Contact:

A

The contact spot for a pitch down the middle is directly opposite the front hip. At contact, both arms are bent close to the 90 degrees and the bat is driven through the ball on a level plane. After the ball has left the bat, both arms are fully extended. Both arms are straight, and the hitter should be looking down both arms and the barrel of the bat, and the V between them points directly at the contact spot.

29
Q

Follow through:

A

The hitter should allow the arms to extend and the wrists to roll over, ending the swing with the hands near the front shoulder and chin on the back shoulder.
The majority of the player’s weight remains on the firm front leg, and the back shoulder, hip and knee should be aligned.

30
Q

Catching the ball

A

Low Ball: Below the waist. Pinkies together

High Ball: Above the waist. Thumbs together

31
Q

How many players per time

A
  • There are 10 players on a team.
32
Q

What is a foul

A
  • Any ball going outside the 1st or 3rd base line is a foul ball (runners cannot advance and the batter gets another try unless the ball was caught in the air, which translates to an out)
33
Q

How many innings are there

A
  • An official game is 7 innings (an inning is when both teams have had their turn to bat)
34
Q

How do you start

A
  • Start with a 1-1 count
35
Q

Strikeout

A
  • Strikeout occurs on the 3rd strike. You only get two strikes before your out.
36
Q

Playing field

A
  • The playing field is divided into the infield and outfield
37
Q

What happens to the base runner after a fly is caught

A
  • After a fly ball has been caught the base runner must tag the occupied base before advancing to the next base if they choose to advance
38
Q

When is a runner out

A

-A runner is out if: they are tagged with the ball before reaching a base, the ball gets to a base before the runner or if they run more than 3 feet out of the base
line to avoid being tagged
