Abrasion
A
Scrapes and Scratches
- Part of skin surface has been lost and the inner layers remain intact
- May involve minor bleeding/weeping
- May give great pain through injury is relatively
Eg gravel rash, carpet burn

Incision
A
Smooth even cut
- Incisions are usually longer than they are deep
- Often times these wounds are not very Deep, usually only damaging the skin
- Occasionally can be very deep, cutting into the muscle tissue, tendons, or major blood vessels.
- Tend to haemorrhage freely, difficult to control

Contusion
A
A contusion is a blunt trauma that results in swelling, pain and ecchymosis (bleeding under skin, capillaries)
- Soft tissue beneath the skin is damaged but the skin on surface is intact
-Swelling caused by the blood beneath the skin is a haematoma
