Religion came into play in the opposite way for karl marx, durkheim thought the new capitalist society needed to be kept so it confunctions
-and unlike marks he thought religion was the glue to keep this society together
-he also believed people created religion

-he saw religion as something that lead to capitalism
-religious belief brought the economic order of capitalism
-he asked why did capitalism only develop in the west
-as he started looking at the capitalist class and one thing he noticed was that the new capitalist came from protestantism or kelvanist
