The idea that we form who we are based on the reactions of others and we are who we are by determining from others how we think other see us
What are the three steps in Coolley’s theories sense of self?
1) imagining our own appearance we imagine how others may see us
2) interpreting the reactions of us we interpret how people we interact with see us through their reactions
3) developing a self-concept based on the reactions developed you develop a self concept of yourself
What was George Mead‘s theory?
George Mead theory looked at how cool his theory worked. It looked at how we influence our sense of self in terms of a deeper level of how it works.
What were the stages of George Mead theory/idea?
1) imitation stage, which is a stage early in life where you want to copy with the important people in our lives do
2) play stage is we imagine ourselves as something someone or somewhere else essentially imagination
3) the game stage, which is the rules and understanding socially exist now people want to play games and want to have rules as you do these games you form a sense of yourself for example, you could play pretend school but now you’re implementing rules

Explain socialization agent of school
School equals perseverance and grit. There are two biological factors that influence this behaviour in personality the most in school and this is gender and birth order.
How does gender and birth order influence personality (school agent)
Gender from sociological perspective due to gender norms that impact socialization because that influences how you socialize in a psychological perspective aggression is can be caused from biological differences in this influences socialization.
In terms of birth order, firstborns are usually more confident and seen themselves a special. The youngest are the babies so the main difference is confidence. They’re very similar to the oldest and the middle is the forgotten one and they are in the shadow. They are independent less attention seeking and you have better coping skills/resilience .
How does family socialize
Intentional Socilizarion (child rearing)

Unintentional Socilization
- children k serve and learn from others but aren’t taught deliberately
