What is structural functionalism and what approach is it from macro or micro?
The theory that society is a complex system that parts work together to promote stability and social orders. We have society as people want to promote social stability in order keep in mind that mishaps in society are deviations and malfunctions in example is how a car engine which represents society has parts that work together to make it work, which are people. It is macro.
What is conflict theory and what approach is it micro or macro?
Conflict theory is the idea that society is in constant conflict for multiple distinct groups competing in society for resources. It is macro
What are the three types of conflict theories and what are the sub groups?
Number one is class conflict which is a battle between social classes
number two is a race conflict which is the conflict between different ethnic and racial groups
number three is gender conflict three which is the conflict of inequalities between women and men
What is symbolic interactionism and what approach is it from macro or micro?
The idea that people make sense other social world through communication and social interaction and that things in our society only have meaning because we agree on it for example, we waive your hand back-and-forth. This is a raw fact, but interpretation and agreement is what makes me saying hello. This is micro
What is the issue with the structural functionists view
Structural functionalism is an issue as it means that this view might consider poverty a good thing as it means that work is desired, and the society can function and prosper economically
What are the societal functions?
Manifest functions equal the purpose of social phenomena , and the latent functions equal the side effects
For example, the manifest function would be to go to school to learn, but the late and function would be that going to school creates organization and timely habits
