Fraternity
A social organisation where members share common goals
Cooperation
The act of working together for a collective goal or purpose
Social class
A division ofsociety based on economic status, education and occupation, oftenn determining individual’s access to resources and opportunities
Social justice
The concept of fairness and equality in society, where all individuals have equal access to opportunities, rights, and resources regardless of factors lilke race or gender - this seeks to rectify social injustice
Equality of outcome and of opportunity
All individuals should have the same chance to succeed and access resources, regardless of background
Common ownership
A system where resources, property or enterprise are owned collectivley by a community, or group raher than by individuals or priavte enterprise
Collectivism
A political or social system in which the collective group’s interests and goals are prioritised over individual interest
Redistribution of wealth
The process of reallocating income and resources from wealthier individuals or groups to those with less, often through policies such as taxation and social welfare programs
Fundamentalists
Believe that socialism is fundamentally incompatible with capitalism and such, it must be removed
Revisionists
Believe that socialist values can be achieved alongside capitalism and that the two can co-exist
Revolutionary socialism
This sought to abolish the capitalist state, society and economy and to replace them with communism, i.e a system where humans work together with an economy based on common ownership
Revisionist socialism
Socialism can be achieved without destorying capitalism - they therefore revise Marx’s view, do not agree that a rev is neccessary
Social Democracy
Disagrees with 2 other strands and believes that capitalism should be be reformed, not replaved, in order to achieve socialist goals such as equality of opportunity and social justice
The Third Way
A synthesis of the social democracy of Crosland and the neop-liberalism of Nozik - a neo-revisionism of social democracy as it proposed free market over state planning, embracing competitive state, more community, moral responsibilty and social inclusion and equality of opportunity over other forms of equality
