What is social support?

A

-The presence of other people who resist the pressure to conform or obey, and therefore, help others to do the same as them- actors role models, who show others that resistance to social influence is possible

what does the presence of support from someone else make it easier to do and why?

A

-To resist social pressures as the individual feels more confident in their own decision, and therefore more confident to reject the majority position if someone else is doing it too

A

breaks the unanimity of the group- once the unanimous position of the majority is broken, others are freed up to think, respond or behave in a different way to the majority
