Freud’s Personality Theory
A
Believes that psychological growth is governed by unconscious biologically based drives and instincts (ex. sex, aggression, and hunger) and is shaped by encounters with the environment.
- Consists of the ID, EGO, and SUPEREGO.

- Unconscious behaviour that consists of instincts and aims to please the pleasure principle.

- Begins to deal with the demands of reality.
- Won’t do something because they know that others don’t want them to.

- The moral branch of personality develops (age 3-6).
- Meaning they do something because they know it’s wrong and they dont want to for themselves.

Erikson’s Psychosocial Theory
A
- Theory that stretches across the whole life-span.
- Inner conflict must be resolved.

A
- The quality of the care-giver relationship has a life-long impact on personality development and social relationships.
