A
When there are 2+ groups seeking for scarce resources, conflict, prejudice and discrimination will arise (due to comp).

When is intergroup hostility maximised?
A
When gains for one group are dependent on losses of another.

How is intergroup hostility reduced?
A
If groups are cooperately interdependent (e.g. there is a superordinate goal).

What are Superordinate goals?
A
Mutually desireable goals that cannot be obtained without the help of 2+ groups.
