Explain Information Social Influence (ISI)
Conforming for cognitive (contextual) reasons. THis happens when you are unsure of the correct response to a scenario. Believe the group is smarter, so you should go along with them.

Electric shocks
Name the three factors which affect obedience
Proximity, Uniform, Location
Describe Uniform in reference to Milgrams study
Variations on millgram’s study took place with the teacher wearing different clothes. When wearing casual clothes rather than a lab coat, the obedience levels dropped from 65% to only 20%
Describe location in reference to Milgrams study
A variation on milgram study ocurred where the experiment took place in a run down office block. Obedience levels dropped to 40%. This is beacuse, compared to the prestigous Yale University, there is much less pressure to live up to the name of the place
Describe proximity in reference to Milgrams study
Whe the Teacher and Learner where in the same room, obedience dropped to 40%. When the doctor left the room the teacher was in, obedience dropped to 20.5%. When you are not in the presence of the one who is ordering you, it is easier to disobey
Explain the agentic state
No longer preform your own concsious actions, all your actions or completely controlled by someone else. Person being ordered believes they will have no responsibility for their actions
