explain modelling?

A

in order for SL to take place someone must model the attitude/behaviour to be learned.

Q

what are the key determinits of if imitation occurs?

Q

wjat is identification?

A

the extent to which an individual related to a model and feels that they are similar to the persons
in order to identify with a model a person must feel that they re similar enough o that if they were to imitate that behaviour they would experience the same outcome.

Q

what did Bandura and Walters(1963) note about agressive behaviou?

A

children that a observe a model getting a reward for aggressive behaviour were more likley to imitate said behaviour than cildren whp had observed a model get punished for that same behaviour

Q

what is vicarious reinformeent?

Q

what is the role of mediational processes?

A

Bundura (1986) claimed that for SL to take place the observer must form mental repreentation of the behaviour displayed by the model and the probable consequences of that behaviour in term o expectincies of future outcomes. WHen appropriate oppurtunities aise in the future, the individual might display the learned behaviour provided the probability of positove consequences is greater than the probability of negative consequences.

Q

Bandure et al(1961) procedure?

A

children who observed agressive or non agressive adult models and were then tested for imitive learning in the absence of a model
half were exposed to an adult active agressivley with and life size bobo doll and half were exposed to an adult acting non aggressive
following exposure children were frustrated by being shown attractive toys which they could not play with
they were then taken toa room where, along with other toys, there was a bobo doll.

Q

what was Bandura(1961) findings?

A

children who observed a amount of aggression were more likley to act agresivley
children who observed no agression had virtually no agression towards the bobo doll
1/3 of the children who oberved the models agression repeated the verbal phrases
in a follow up study, Bandure and Walters found out children were more likley to act agressvley when they saw the model being rewarded for agressive behaviour.
