What is social influence?
Describes the changing of ones attitudes, values and behaviour due to the influence of others

What are the 3 stages of social influence?
- Compliance
- Identification
- Internalization
Explain compliance and give an example
Compliance occurs when someone presents themselves as agreeing with the values of others while keeping contradictory values to themselves. Behaviour may change but values don’t.
eg. Following rules
Explain identification and give an example
Occurs when someones values are influenced by someone they identify with, the changing of ones behaviour to create or maintain friendships
eg. Saying your vegetarian cos all your friends are saying it
Explain internalization and give an example
Occurs when a value is fully accepted by a person.
eg. Saying your a vegetarian because you believe in the ideals of it
