There were still difficulties for ethnic minorities looking for work - said that there should be policies that tackle the root cause of inequality
ETHNICITY Pilkington (2003) - Challenging the idea of an ethnic underclass
Says that saying there is an ethnic underclass oversimplifies ethnic groups - argues that there needs to be nuance when looking at why there is gender, ethnic, class, social inequality

Argues that due to Empire, racism and classism are interconnected in the UK

Elderly people are treated as infirm and unable - denigrating them and showing a lack of respect

There is a divide among the ability of the elderly to participate in society due to gender, ethnicity and class

There is discrimination against the elderly due to negative stereotypes and perceptions - more awareness needs to be raised surrounding ageism
