deprived communities have fwere opportunities to achueve goals they aspire to, push people to innovate, find alternative means to reach goals such as crime

criminal and attract more police, greater police presence in w/c communities than m/c, offenders now more likely to be stopped/searched, regarded as acting suspicious,being arrested, higher in w/c areas due to more police
parent types
m/c parents are able to negotiate cjs better than w/c parents, lower criminality levels in m/c
marx theory
focus on w/c crime rather than m/c, laws created enforce and punish w/c, as theyre the most deprived due to capitalism
rational choice
potential offenders from pooroer areas decide that the benefit of crime ( access to money, consumer goods) outweigh the costs and risks of being caught
globalisation
outsourcing of trad manual labour jobs has created high levels of unemployment and a crisis of masculinity, crime is now a viable career option and source of status, that was once given through manual labour
