Q

Basil Bernstein

A

•restricted code- used by people who share similar interests and experiences, this reinforces group identity. The vocabulary tends to be simple and the conversation is predictable
•elaborate code- the speaker won’t assume that the listener shares the same views and tends to me more focused on ideas and theories. Have a wider vocabulary with more complex grammar
