A

when a society adopts a new belief or a way of thinking which then becomes widely accepted as the norm

Calling a blue slide green

A

AIMED to investigate how a CONSISTENT minority can affect the views of a larger group
PROCEDURE-all females had eyes tested (not colour blind)
groups of 4, 2ppts and 2confed’s
shown 36 blue slides (ALL BLUE) and had to state answer aloud
2 GROUPS
1) confed’s were consistent said all were green
2) confed’s were inconsistent, green 24 times, blue 12 times
FOUND 8.42% of ppts answered green all the time in group 1 and 32% answered green at least once
whereas inconsistent group 2 only 1.25% answered green
SUGGESTING the minority can change the opinion of the majority

A

Consistency - knowledgable, passionate and confident

Commitment - have patience, be passionate and dedicated

Flexibility - Listen, consider other views, have background knowledge.

gradually, the minority pick up people who change their views and over time, they gain so many that the minority view is now the majority view.

A

the majority refuses the minority view because it is attached to a certain source, but over time they forget that the view was at one point the minority and openly change their views, making it the majority view point now

How did the suffragette movement change the minority opinion into the majority

A

Consistency-they got stopped, didnt give up and protested from jail

Flexibility-agreed to postpone their campaign to help with the war

Commitment-they were so committed, they government gave up as it was their only option

Snowball effect-only a few women started, more joined and laws changed, now they majority view

Internal L.O.C-didnt obey the laws, even when faced with imprisonment
